I'm lucky in that where I live there is a very large wooded area just a few minutes walk from my house. Despite it's proximity I have never really taken advantage of the fact and tend to just jump in the car when I want to take photos in the belief that there are newer, shinier things to take the further from home I go.

I guess what I'm saying is, sometimes there's no need to go further than a few minutes walk away and whilst I appreciate we may not all have woods, forests and ocean mere minutes away, we can look at where we live with new eyes.

Photographs are everywhere. Everywhere. We just need to open our minds then our eyes, then our shutters.

Go take a look around your neighbourhood and see what you can see......differently.

Rather than keep posting wintery landscape type images I have a page at the top of the blog that you can click on or use the link here.

The weather here in the UK has gone mental again! Up to eight inches of snow fell in just a couple of hours here in the south of England. When it started, I had to go walkabout with my cameras but, what I didn't realize was just how hard and fast it was going to fall. At one point there was a virtual whiteout and I became very disoriented. I kept heading in what I hoped was the right direction and managed to find a main road. On reaching the road though, it was really eerie....all the traffic had come to a virtual halt. Cars were sliding into buses and people just got out of their cars wherever they were on the road, and, apart from the odd spinning of wheels, there was silence. Very strange.

I managed to take about 50 odd shots but the snow was settling on the cameras within seconds and I actually got worried about damaging them. I can't remember the snow ever falling like this and ferreting back through my memory banks certainly don't remember a winter as long and as harsh as this....

The weather has taken a downward turn again here in the UK so, rather than doing the English thing of moaning about it, I went walkabout instead. It was freezing but there was also a fog which gave me an opportunity to test the Canon S90 even further. Overall, I think it did a pretty good job so, yes, I will keep it after all.

If you want to see some more shots from my jaunt in the woods, take a look at the page here.

I Tawt I Taw A Puddy Tat!!!

Aaaahh! This little chap, a white tiger cub, resides within the confines of the Mirage Hotel & Casino in sunny Las Vegas. Bizarre place Vegas. Where else could you find a white tiger cub in the middle of a (granted, it's developed) desert.

Winter Park

So, having used my Canon S90 for a few days now, I really don't think I would part with it for all the tea in China (can I say that these days?....probably not!). I did a bit if retouching to this image in that I had to clone out a large set of bright yellow fitness equipment which has suddenly started to appear in a few of our public parks and open spaces. Gives the kids something to damage I suppose....

The Union Square Dance

There was a band playing in Union Square when I saw this chap. He was either very worn out or just couldn't be arsed to get up and dance!

The Cheesecake Factory

This little chap was spotted in 'The Cheescake Factory' in Union Square. I love this place. Just about everything in the world is on their menu and I couldn't believe my luck when I found out they had one in Vagas too!!

I always thought the Cheeescake Factory was fictional....where Penny works in the 'Big Bang Theory'.

San Fran By Air

I managed to grab this out of the plane window as we went over. I couldn't believe how densely packed San Francisco is. Silly really. But to be honest I didn't know what to expect...wasn't this though.
